Easter Season Concerts for 2010
Inspired by the ongoing success of our annual
Christmas
Concert Series,
the Arcadia
Brass Quintet is preparing an exciting new
concert program for the Easter Season. Just as
we did throughout the Christmas season, we
will bring our
hour-long, polished performance to communities throughout the New York
City area - Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, The Bronx, Rockland,
Westchester & Nassau counties. Audiences love these
performances. We've been told "it's like going to Lincoln
Center, but
it's right around the corner!" And that sums up our approach
to our concerts - we bring high quality music out of the
concert halls and into the
neighborhoods. Listen

Arcadia Brass makes things easy for the churches & other venues that host our concerts. We charge a reasonable flat fee, with no hidden expenses or added charges. We do all the music prep and rehearsing, and present the entire program ourselves. We do not require an organist or choir to perform with us. The hosting church/venue provides publicity, getting the word out to the community, to ensure a good audience. Some churches choose to sell tickets, others take up a free-will offering, and some provide the concert free of charge as a gift to their community. Some venues also host a short dessert reception afterwards so people can enjoy some time together and meet the performers.
The concert includes a variety of music - inventive arrangements of seasonally appropriate sacred music from all over the world, as well as a selection of baroque, classical, romantic and modern art music for brass. At key points in the program, the performers talk with the audience, helping to deepen their understanding and appreciation of the music.

The concerts for the Easter Season are a new initiative for us, so for now please understand that the live recordings we have available are from our Christmas programs. Pieces we are preparing and considering for the Easter Season Program include: Monteverdi - Toccata from Vespers of 1610; Handel - Excerpts from The Messiah & Judas Maccabeus (including " I Know that My Redeemer Liveth" and "Hail Conquering Hero"); Bernstein - "Simple Song" from Mass; Elgar - Salut d'Amour; Vivaldi - Spring; traditional African-American Spirituals; and works by Bach, Byrd, Copland, Ewald, Franck, Maurer, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Palestrina, Rimsky-Korsakov.
